Wondering if anyone knows about this fuel pump? Im looking for a good unit for jrsc at 6 psi and my friend is selling a brand new one for cheap. Its rated at 255lph. Just wondering if this would be a good choice? Thanks.

I'm not sure about the BBK but the Walbro has two diferent 255 LPH pumps, one rated for standard pressure and one that continues to pump well at high pressures. If you plan on running stock injectors that means you will be running pretty high pressures and while the standard pressure pump puts out 255 LPH @ 40 PSI it falls off sharply under high pressures. There are graphs on the Hondata site that show this. I'm not sure how cheap you can get the BBK for but you might want to e-mail/call JRCivic who can give you a good deal on a Walbro 255LPH high pressure pump.

I believe that the BBK is a RE-BADGED Walbro pump... you can verify this by examining the outer case. There should be a Walbro part number stamped on it... GSS-XXX (with the "X's" denoting a specific output and plug style).

Let us know what you find out.

Rebagged?? Hell BBK was too lazy to even to that. The last brand new out of the package bbk fuel pump I installed had walbro stamped right across it!

That's the pump that I have. . . and I haven't had any problems with it. It starts up with a really cool "whirling" sound, but I think that's normal with other aftermarket fuel pumps also.

    My setup:

    95 GSR w/ 6psi JRSC
    BBK 255 lph fuel pump
    short ram 3" intake

That combination has netted me 217 hp, 155 ft-lbs on the dyno.

So is the BBK 255 LPH pump a Walbro 317 or 342?

The 317 is the 255 LPH standard pressure version that pumps well at standard pressure but falls off when pushed under higher pressures. The 342 handles higher pressure better. See Article Here which show that the 317 stops pumping @ 100 PSI and the 342 can pump to 120. If you take this at it's word it demonstrates how the stock pump is barely adequate (keeping in mind the article is written for DSM's) for any FI application (without a standalone fuel management system IE: Hondata) as it stops pumping at ~80. If you are running larger injetors (310's) then it's not as critical since you won't have to elevate the pressure as much.

So if the GSS317 can't push pressure above ~80-90 psi, what happens above those pressures? Does the fuel pump just "max-out?"

When I get my MAP controller and decrease my static fuel pressures then, how will this affect my max fuel pressures?
